A:        Testosterone drives many of the behaviors we see in male dogs, including some annoying, and potentially dangerous ones.  “Intact” male dogs often “mark their territory” by sprinkling urine on objects within it.  If those objects are telephone poles and bushes, it’s just annoying.  When the furniture and door jambs become the targets, it’s downright unacceptable.  Intact male dogs may also display their territoriality with aggression toward visitors to your home, passersby, or other dogs.  This, and a tendency to wander away from home if not confined, can be dangerous to both your pet and to other people.
