Dr. Ashley D. Her face may be familiar to you from her previous work here as a veterinary assistant while she completed her undergraduate degree at Cedar Crest College. During veterinary school, Dr. Borrelli was a board member of her school's chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association and was an active member of her local community. She pursued additional training in her interests of ultrasound, internal medicine, and dentistry while in school. She was very excited to return to the Alburtis Animal Hospital team and continue to be a part of your pet's care.

Dr. Brandon Wegner, DVM:  Originally hailing from Northern Wisconsin, Dr. Wegner earned his veterinary degree from Ross University in 2009 after spending a few years in the US Navy. Dr. Wegner had the pleasure of working in zoos in New Jersey and Pennsylvania prior to entering veterinary school. He has had 8 years of experience treating small mammals along with his main task of caring for the well-being of dogs and cats prior to joining our team at Alburtis Animal Hospital in 2017. Dr. Wegner, his wife, and their two children live in Alburtis with cats and dogs. When not caring for his patients, he enjoys fishing, golfing, cooking, and travel to Wisconsin and Disney World. We know you will appreciate getting to meet Dr. Wegner and will enjoy his calm demeanor and his care for your pets.

Our Receptionists:

Lynn:  Lynn had been a long time client of ours before she joined our team as a receptionist in 2016. She loves all pets, but has a special soft spot for senior and rescued pets. She currently shares her home with two lovable, furry pets. She rescued her "senior" Dalmatian mix Ringo two years ago and recently gained a short-haired cat named Crowley that came with her new home! In her free time she enjoys sitting down with a good book and a hot cup of tea.

Gail: Gail joined our team in 2017 and is always happy to greet and get to know all of our clients and their pets. She considers it to be the best part of her job! In her spare time she enjoys walking, knitting, reading and traveling, but most of all, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Shelby: Shelby joined our team in 2019. She has an immense love of animals and currently shares her home with six cats and two dogs. She enjoys fostering for a local non profit and has a soft spot for special needs animals. She is currently in school to obtain her bachelors degree in non profit management.

Our Veterinary Technicians/Nurses:

Beth, CVT: Beth became a member of our team in 2007. She is a Certified Veterinary Technician with a BS from Bucknell University. She has worked in the veterinary medical field for over 34 years. She has one dog named Helen who also works here, part time, as our Front Desk Biscuit Distribution Supervisor. When Beth is not hard at work here, she enjoys hanging out with Helen, embroidering, crocheting, and gardening.

Kristin: Kristin has been in the veterinary field since 1999 and became a member of our team in 2009. She lives on a small farm in rural Berks county along with her husband, daughters and a menagerie of critters. In her spare time she enjoys hiking with her family, photography and beekeeping.

Maria: Maria joined the team at Alburtis Animal Hospital in 2017. She is a very accomplished student-athlete (golf) and is attending college locally hoping to go to veterinary school. She enjoys horses and small animals equally. She cares very much for animals and people, and we know you will enjoy getting to know her as she helps you and your pets!

Alyson: Alyson has always had an eclectic mix of pets as a child and knew that someday she would have a career working with animals. She entered the veterinary field in 2000 and joined our team in 2018. She has a strong interest in canine behavior. Her home is shared with two young Australian Cattle dogs that were adopted through ACDRA.org, a rescue that she has remained very active with. In her spare time she loves to create a unique mix of art, go hiking, kayaking and just enjoy the quiet of her house in the woods.

Tracie: Tracie has worked, in some capacity, in the veterinary field for almost 25 years and graduated from Albright College with a BS in Pyschobiology. She joined our team in 2018 and enjoys her dual role of veterinary receptionist and assistant. When not at work she is busy spending time with her amazing family and friends, running a small non-profit animal rescue/sanctuary and creating unique cakes for family and friend's special occasions. Her home is filled with furry, fuzzy and feathered friends.

Hilary: Hilary started working with large animals at age 13. Her love of cows and goats sparked an interest in making soaps and cheeses. She entered the veterinary field in 2007 and joined our team in 2016. In her spare time she enjoys engaging in family activities with her son Aiden. She currently has a cat, Miss Kitten, and a Labrador named Lucy. She is a very talented artist and enjoys painting, hiking, camping and music.

Cassy:  At the age of 17, Cassy enlisted in the Army National Guard. After training she began working at her local animal shelter. While there, she was sworn in as the Humane Police Officer where she investigated cruelty and neglect cases. Through this experience she realized she was happiest providing supportive therapy to the sick and injured animals. With over 10 years of experience in shelter medicine she decided to expand her abilities and began working here as a veterinary technician in 2018. She feels that now she can have the best of both worlds. She shares her home with her fiance, four dogs, and two cats. Together they enjoy fostering homeless animals and kayaking with their dogs.

Our Office Staff:

Laura Wasser - Practice Manager: Laura rejoined our practice in 2019. Some long-time clients may remember her from her previous time here as a technician from 2003-2005. She recently completed Olds College Veterinary Practice Management course and is working towards obtaining her CVPM (Certified Veterinary Practice Manager) certification. She currently resides in Berks county with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and other various small creatures. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, biking, running, kayaking, gardening, paintball, beekeeping, and anything that gets her outdoors.

Michelle - Bookkeeper: Michelle joined us in January, 2011, to fill the role of bookkeeper.  She also stays busy at home and all around the Valley with 3 school age children who are highly involved in school activities along with community and school sports programs.

Our Client Service Coordinators:

Helen - Front Desk Biscuit Distribution Supervisor: Helen has worked at the front desk for almost 6 years. In addition to monitoring the biscuit jar, her other duties include greeting people, mooching carrots from co-workers and napping under the desk. She also encourages employee fitness by asking to go outside as often as any co-worker will take her. The highlights of her working day are lunch and the arrival of the UPS man with his pocketful of biscuits. Helen's favorite activity at work or home is eating! When not at work her hobbies include walking in the park, eating grass in her backyard, terrorizing the local squirrel population and sleeping on the sofa.

Mr. Pibb: Formerly known as Carmine, Mr. Pibb (short for Mr. Pain In the Butt Boy) was a stray kitten who was adopted by the animal hospital in the fall of 2013. He is a super sweet and fluffy cat who has been and will continue to grow to be a good friend to those who visit our hospital for years to come.

Pibb's

Cheeto: Cheeto was adopted by Alburtis Animal Hospital in the fall of 2013 to help keep Mr. Pibb company! He has a very sweet temperament and gets along with everybody.
