As we all are affected by the current coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic in our community, please consider doing your part to help your community’s local small businesses. If they offer online services or sales of products, please consider using them instead of the major multinational online providers.
In our specific case, our governor has wisely mandated that non-life-sustaining businesses and services should be closed or discontinued to decrease the spread of the coronavirus. For Alburtis Animal Hospital that means that we can no longer provide routine vaccination and well-visit services. The loss of that number of clients and patients coming through our doors is seriously threatening our business. We are trying to limit laying off staff as much as possible so we can provide work and income for as many as we can to serve our community. Our staff is crucial in our mission of helping your beloved pets with truly urgent problems that may be seriously impacting their quality of life.
The loss of well over 50% of appointments for an undetermined amount of time may be truly devastating to the long-term availability of veterinary care in small-town animal hospitals like ours without the support of our clients. We are making no changes in our pricing structure because our true desire is to continue providing affordable urgent care for our clients and patients.
How can you help? Please consider https://alburtisah.vetsfirstchoice.com for medications and some pet foods; Hills To Home for prescription veterinary diets; Veterinary Recommended Solutions for various supplements; and https://www.gettelevet.com/owners for telemedicine options for care.
All of the sites listed above provide at least a small amount of income to our animal hospital that otherwise would go to a major multinational or national corporation like Chewy.com or 1800Petmeds or Amazon that do not directly invest in our communities. Whatever even minor changes you can make in your purchasing habits to help our local businesses will help keep our communities strong into the future.
A couple of very helpful options for local small businesses are to purchase gift cards to be used at later dates and ordering take out/carryout/delivery as much as you can afford to from local restaurants.
Thank you for reading this and for your amazing support over the last 31 years! We truly love caring for you and your furry family members!
